7 Tips on Asking for Referrals


While there are a number of ways to advertise and list your properties in the market, did you know that end-users are 3 times more likely to use your services when they have been referred by someone? Read on for tips on asking for referrals.

1. Give your clients a reason to refer you – it’s not enough to just close the deal for them; stay in touch, be there after the deal goes through… etc. These are the things that will make you stand out to your clients.

2. Make it clear to your clients that you value their referrals and that it is actually a great way to get new business.

3. Create a small card or branded flyer that includes a slogan like, “your referrals make our business great,” or “We appreciate your referrals.”

4. Ask for a referral face to face, and not through an email or phone call. Direct conversation is always best!

5. Choose the right time and the right client when asking for a referral. You’re not going to get a referral from each client you see, so make sure you choose wisely.

6. Before asking the client for a referral, ensure that they are happy with your service and ask them for their honest feedback. This will make it easier for you to determine if this is the best situation to ask for a referral and also improve your dealings for the future.

7. Always thank any client that has referred a new customer your way!
