Tips for Furnishing Your Studio

If you’re looking for a somewhat smaller and cozier place to live, renting a studio apartment in Bahrain is the perfect choice for you. And luckily, studios here come in all shapes and sizes, and are available in different locations of the city. While it is definitely smaller than your usual apartment, this does not mean you need to compromise on design or décor; here are a few do’s and dont’s for furnishing your studio apartment:

Do’s:
1. Arrange the space into smaller areas:
You’ll be able to utilize the space more fully if you organize your space – corner off your studio into main areas for living space, sleeping space, etc… depending on what it is you need. This takes us to ‘do’ number two!
2. Prioritize your Furniture and Accessories:
Think about your priorities – do you really need a desk or a dining table? It is not needed then don’t include it. It will just take up space for the things that you actually need.
3: Buy Proportionate Furniture:
Nothing too big or too small; if it’s too big it’ll be too overwhelming, too small and the piece will be eaten up by its surroundings. Try and choose the right size furniture for your studio, as it will be the perfect addition to the place you call home.
4. Choose Light and Subtle Tones:

Color tones that are too bold or flashy will make the space look smaller. Instead, stick to lighter and neutral tines such as whites, off-whites, or any pastel tones.
5. Use the Walls:

The walls in your studio will be a lifesaver when it comes to space. Arrange all your clutter on neat and cute shelves on the wall. Not only will you be saving a massive amount of space, but you’ll also be taking care of wall décor in a very sufficient way!

Dont’s:
1. Don’t Make Your Bed the Center of Attention:

Place your ‘bedroom’ and all that comes with it in one corner of the studio. This way, you’ll be able split the area and not have all your furniture eaten up by the bed
2. Don’t Hang Curtains That Are Too Low:

When hanging curtains, make sure the rail reaches the very top of the window. This will elongate the room and draw eyes to the ceiling, making the area look much bigger and more spacious.
3. Ditch the Traditional Coffee Table
Smaller tables are more compact and can be easily moved around when needed. Round tables with glass tops are ideal for smaller spaces.
4. Avoid Pushing the Furniture Against Walls:
You’ll be wasting a lot of middle space if everything is too scared to be the center of attention. Instead, ensure you have a few statement pieces that stand out.
5. Don’t Play it Safe:
Take risks and do what you feel will make this small (read: cozy) place your home!
