Anyone living in Bahrain knows that the heat + humidity can get the best of us, even with our reliability on air conditioning. So if you\u2019re staying put this summer, here are some tips to keep your home extra cool:<\/p>\n

1. Close your blinds:
\n\"\"<\/strong>
\nAs simple as it may sound, closing your blinds has a real strong effect on the temperature of your home. Keep them closed to stay cool!<\/p>\n

2. Clean your AC filters:<\/strong>
\nThis is an important step to do every month, but it is extra important to clean your filters in the summer, as dust build up can reduce air flow drastically over time.<\/p>\n

3. Get some sunlight absorbing plants:<\/strong>
\nThese plants will become your friends! The mere placement of them around your windows will absorb a lot of the rays from the sun.<\/p>\n

4. Turn off the lights:
\n\"\"<\/strong>
\nAll light bulbs, even the most environmentally friendly ones, give off heat. So whenever they\u2019re not needed, make sure they are off!<\/p>\n

5. Time chores wisely:
\n\"\"<\/strong>
\nElectronic appliances use a lot of energy, which makes the house warmer. Try and put off turning on the washing machine, dishwasher and others until after sundown.<\/p>\n

6. Close the doors:<\/strong>
\nClosing any room or toilet doors will make it easier for you to cool down one main room, as the cold air is concentrated in one area.<\/p>\n

7. Invest in a cooling sheet or pillow:
\n\"\"<\/strong>
\nIf you really want to cool down, invest in bedding that will keep you extra cool! Check out your local stores, or scour the internet for a number of options.<\/p>\n

8. When using a ceiling fan:<\/strong>
\nSet it to rotate counter-clockwise and at a higher speed and it will create a nice breeze.<\/p>\n

9. Use your kitchen and bathroom vents:<\/strong>
\nTurning on the suction fans will suck out the hot air!<\/p>\n

10: Cool down your body:<\/strong>
\nIf you focus on cooling down your body, the temperature of your home will automatically decrease too!<\/p>\n
