About Durrat Al Bahrain
Durrat Al Bahrain
As one of the most prominent examples of successful partnerships between the government and the private sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Durrat Al Bahrain project was launched in 2005 as a model integrated city. It was a joint venture between the Government of Bahrain and Kuwait Finance House. The project marked the first major development in Bahrain’s Southern Governorate, stemming from the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the Kingdom of Bahrain—may God protect and preserve him—for the development of the southern region.
Durrat Al Bahrain consists of 12 islands connected by 13 bridges, forming a beautiful necklace of unique pearls, reflecting the project’s name, “Durrat Al Bahrain” (The Pearl of Bahrain), symbolizing one of the most precious and largest pearls in the Kingdom and the Arabian Gulf. The resort is located 50 kilometers from the capital, Manama, and spans an area of 21 square kilometers. It was designed by the renowned global firm W.S. Atkins, known for its innovative designs worldwide. The resort adds 64 kilometers of waterfronts and beaches of varying lengths to the Kingdom’s coastline.
Eleven of the islands have been allocated as residential islands, forming the vibrant heart of the resort. These islands host more than 1,400 residential villas of various sizes, designed in harmony with the authentic culture and taste of Bahraini society, and built to the highest international standards. The Fayrouz and Murjan islands, known for their serene and conservative character, have become a preferred destination for owners to relax and enjoy quality time with family and friends. Each island is equipped with comprehensive facilities such as beaches, mosques, service shops, restaurants, cafes, walking paths, and multi-purpose playgrounds, all set within one of the largest green environments in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The first and second phases of the project began in 2005, focusing on developing 7 islands, and included over 1,000 villas ranging from waterfront villas to inland ones. These phases were completed, and the villas handed over to owners in 2010.
The third phase was launched in 2014, under the name “Fayrouz 800,” to develop the Fayrouz 4 and 5 islands. These islands included 168 waterfront villas, which were delivered to owners in 2016.
Jawharat Al Murjan (Murjan Jewel): A Distinguished Fourth Phase at Durrat Al Bahrain
Fifteen years after the launch of the project’s first phase, the fourth phase begins in 2024 with the development of Murjan 5 Island, under the name “Jawharat Al Murjan” (The Jewel of Murjan). This phase includes the construction of more than 200 unique waterfront villas, adding to the over 1,200 luxurious and distinguished villas developed in earlier stages, which together form the vibrant community of Durrat Al Bahrain.
These villas feature a modern design that aligns with the culture and traditions of Gulf families. The villas in the “Jawharat Al Murjan” project are categorized into several types with varying specifications, each offering 4 to 5 bedrooms along with essential amenities, and new features designed according to the latest standards.
The project was developed with the needs of Gulf families in mind, offering complete comfort, relaxation, and a joyful family atmosphere. The villas reflect a refined, modern architectural touch, with each island including essential facilities to complement the contemporary lifestyle expected by homeowners—such as various sports fields, health clubs, mosques, beach and marine life facilities, and other vital amenities.
