How to Decorate a Furnished Apartment

Decorating a furnished apartment may seem like a tricky endeavor, but here are a few things you can do to personalize your house and make it your own.

1. Choose a color scheme;
With a furnished house, the color of the walls and carpets is pretty much – so choose a shade that you like that will match the color that is already in the house. This will help you have a clear vision of what you want, and will add a personal touch as well.

2. Use a rug:
If the house has a carpet that you are not too keen on, use a rug; it can totally change the way your flooring looks. Make sure you follow the color scheme for this one too.

3. Rearrange the furniture
Just because the furniture is there doesn’t mean its mounted to the floors. Play around with some ideas and rearrange the furniture the way you’d like.

4. A personal touch
Place a few of your favorite things around the house; cushions that you like, a throw on the couch, anything that makes it feel like your home will do.

5. Use pictures:
Pictures are important because they will give you a cozy and homey feeling. Use as many as you can and create little picture corners for extra décor.

6. Use the walls:
Wall shelves, posters, (more) pictures and other wall decorations can make a world of difference. The smallest addition to a blank wall can turn it into a stylish corner.

7. Don’t forget about the kitchen
A few additions to the kitchen will also make a change. Kitchen counters or tables are perfect for a plant or flower pot, as well as other table-top accessories.

8. Say please
If you really dislike a piece, then ask the landlord or building manager (nicely) if it can be replaced or completely removed. You’d be surprised at how many will agree to this.
